ABOUT DRAWING CLASS
Room: J7
Course Length: One Year
Prerequisites: None
This is a UC approved class that is an introduction to various types of drawing. You will learn many different techniques as well as design concepts, art theory and art history.
How does the class work?
So here is the basic run down of what happens in class... You will be given a sketchbook in which you will do all your work. You will come in, get whatever supplies you need, and get to work. This is a STUDIO CLASSROOM. This means that most of the time, you are working on your projects at your own pace.
New units start with intro. info, links, and demonstration or background videos. New concepts start with smaller, skill-building assignments. A larger drawing will then be assigned for each unit.
I am always available to help you, by re-demonstrating techniques, answering questions and giving advice. Anything you need, I can help you with. Don't be afraid to ask!
What about Classroom Supplies?
All supplies are provided by me. If you prefer to use your own drawing pencils, it is best that you do not use a mechanical one (they are ok for tiny detailing, but that is all!) A plain, #2 pencil will work just fine.
It is very important that you respect the supplies. Take care of them, do not waste them, put them back where they belong, and don't accidentally steal them (it happens).
How do you pay for all of it?
I'm so glad you asked! I cannot possibly afford all the supplies we use with the money that I am given by the state & school. I rely on donations given to me by my students. I ask for a reasonable, tax-deductable, donation of $20 for the entire year. Donations can be given to me anytime. Checks should be made out to MHS. If you can't afford the $20, I am happy to take anything you can give me. Art supplies are not cheap! Thank you!
